The recall is due to a flammability hazard. The carpeting failed to meet the requirements of the Standard for the Surface Flammability of Carpets and Rugs (IX FF 1-70) of the Flammable Fabrics Act. Colony Carpets states that the carpeting was re-dyed by finishers without the company's knowledge, a process that affected the flame-retardant characteristics of the product.
Consumers who purchased or were delivered "301, Shalimar" carpeting should contact the place of business from which it was purchased for recall information. The carpeting may be returned to the manufacturer to be reworked or destroyed. The specific roll numbers subject to the recall are listed in the official CPSC notice.
