Scepter Fuel Containers Recalled for Flash Fire and Child Burn Risk
Scepter gas and oil fuel containers lack required flame mitigation devices and child-resistant closures, posing risk of flash fire and burn injury to children. No injuries have been reported.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The source explicitly states no injuries have been reported. Although the containers violate mandatory safety standards and pose serious stated risks of flash fire and child poisoning, the rubric limits recalls with no reported harm and theoretical hazards to a maximum score of 3 (High).
Plain-English summary
Scepter B62 gas and oil combination fuel containers are being recalled due to safety violations. The containers are red with black caps and yellow spouts on each end. They feature dual chambers with a 6-liter gas capacity on one side and a 2.5-liter oil capacity on the other. About 1,500 units were sold through Amazon from December 2024 through August 2025 for approximately $36 per container.
The recalled containers violate the Portable Fuel Container Safety Act because they lack flame mitigation devices required to prevent flash fires. They also violate the Children's Gasoline Burn Prevention Act because the spout is not child-resistant, creating a risk of burn injury and poisoning to children who may access them.
Consumers who purchased these containers should immediately stop using them and place them out of reach of children. To obtain a full refund, contact Canada Prep and Ship (the importer) by email at [email protected] or visit https://canadaprepandship.com/recalls.
