Almpal dissolved oxygen test kits are being recalled because they violate the mandatory standard for child-resistant packaging. The kits come in a cream-colored box with a white label reading "Dissolved Oxygen Test Kit" alongside the manufacture date, batch number and expiration date.
Each kit contains a bottle of sulfuric acid, which must be in child-resistant packaging under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. Because the bottle is not child-resistant, there is a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if a young child swallows the contents. The CPSC notice states that no injuries or incidents have been reported.
About 470 kits were sold on Amazon from May 2025 through August 2025 for about $25. Only unexpired kits sold after May 2025 are included in the recall.
Consumers should immediately secure the kits out of the sight and reach of children and contact Almpal for disposal instructions and a full refund. Before disposing of a kit, consumers will be asked to submit a photo through Amazon's messaging platform; the refund is issued once the images are verified. All kits, expired or not, should be disposed of in line with local household hazardous waste rules. Returning the product is not required.
