Interior Resources recalls approximately 1,772 children's steel utility bunk beds due to spacing violations that pose entrapment and strangulation hazards. No injuries have been reported.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall meets the High (3) threshold: no injuries have been reported, but the bunk beds pose a documented risk of entrapment and strangulation to children due to federal regulation violations regarding guardrail and mattress support spacing.
Plain-English summary
This recall involves approximately 1,772 children's steel utility bunk beds manufactured by Delweld Industries Corp. and distributed by Interior Resources USA LLC. The bunk beds are twin-size units with a heavy-duty powder coat finish available in black or brown, each equipped with a ladder and guardrail.
The recalled bunk beds violate federal bunk bed regulations because the spacing between the guardrail and end support, and the spacing around the mattress supports, exceed allowable limits. These spacing violations create entrapment and strangulation hazards for children.
The bunk beds were sold to institutions in New York from January 2017 through May 2024, each priced at approximately $1,800. No injuries or illnesses have been reported to date.
Consumers should immediately disassemble the affected bunk beds. Interior Resources is offering a free repair kit and free professional installation once available. Contact Interior Resources at 800-397-7776 (Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. ET), via email at [email protected], or visit https://interiorresourcesusa.com/product-recall for disassembly instructions.
