FENGQS F7 Pro e-bike batteries can overheat and ignite

FENGQS F7 Pro e-bikes with batteries made on April 21, 2024 are being recalled because the lithium-ion battery can overheat and ignite. Thirteen ignitions and two fires have been reported.

Plain-English summary

FENGQS F7 Pro electric bikes with batteries manufactured on April 21, 2024 are being recalled. The e-bikes were sold in blue, with "FENGQS" printed on the downtube and "F7 Pro" on the chain stay near the rear wheel; the battery capacity 21.5Ah and production date 2024/4/21 appear on the battery. About 100 units are affected.

The stated hazard is that the e-bikes' lithium-ion battery can overheat and ignite, posing serious fire and burn hazards. FENGQS has received 13 reports of e-bikes igniting, two of which resulted in fires with property damage totalling $4,000.

The e-bikes were sold on Amazon from May 2024 through December 2024 for between $700 and $1,200.

Consumers should stop using the recalled e-bikes immediately and contact FENGQS for a full refund, marking the battery as instructed and submitting a photo to [email protected]. The recalled battery must be taken to a household hazardous waste collection centre and must not be placed in the trash, in general recycling, or in battery recycling boxes at retail stores.
