Plain-English summary
This recall involves NTI-brand TRX Series II residential wall-mounted gas boilers (models TRX150, TRX199, and TRX199C). The boiler door can fail to seal properly due to incorrect burner door studs, allowing flames and gases to escape. This creates fire and carbon monoxide poisoning hazards that can result in serious injury or death.
Approximately 323 units were sold in the United States between September 2024 and February 2025 through independent heating and plumbing contractors and wholesale distributors, priced between $3,400 and $4,100. The boilers are gray in color, approximately 20 inches wide and 34 inches tall. Affected units can be identified by their model number and serial number on the rating plate on the left-hand side of the boiler.
Consumers should immediately stop using recalled boilers and contact NTI Boilers to arrange a free repair by a certified technician. Consumers who must continue using the boiler while awaiting repair should ensure they have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in their homes. The manufacturer can be reached toll-free at 800-688-2575 (Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET), by email at [email protected], or online at www.ntiboilers.com.
