Pella Sliding Patio Doors and Windows Recalled for Battery Ingestion Hazard
Pella Corporation is recalling about 340 Pella Reserve and Lifestyle sliding patio doors and windows because their sensor panels and remote controls contain button cell batteries that children can easily access, posing an ingestion hazard.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The source states no injuries or illnesses have been reported. While button cell battery ingestion is a serious documented hazard capable of causing death, the lack of reported harm classifies this as a risk-of-harm product where injury has not yet been reported, warranting a score of 3 per the severity rubric.
Plain-English summary
Pella Corporation is recalling approximately 340 Pella Reserve and Pella Lifestyle sliding patio doors and windows sold between March 2024 and June 2024. The recalled products include the Pella Reserve and Pella Lifestyle sliding doors with Insynctive technology (2-panel, 3-panel, and 4-panel models) and Pella Lifestyle windows and sliding doors with Insynctive remote control (models 206A0000 and 206A0001). The doors were sold for between $5,000 and $20,000 depending on the model, and windows sold for about $1,900.
The recalled doors and windows contain button cell batteries in the sensor housing of the door panels and in the windows' remote controls that can be easily accessed by children. These products violate federal safety regulations for consumer products with button cell or coin batteries and do not have required warnings. When button cell batteries are swallowed, they can cause serious injuries, internal chemical burns, and potentially death.
The products were sold through Pella direct, Lowe's, and Builders FirstSource stores nationwide and online. No injuries have been reported to date.
Consumers should immediately remove the battery from the sensor in the door panels and from the windows' remote controls and place them in an area that children cannot access. Consumers can contact Pella toll-free at 844-807-2219 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit www.pella.com or https://www.pella.com/recall-notice for instructions on receiving a free replacement remote with free shipping or scheduling a free door repair by a qualified technician.
