SIG SAUER ROMEO5 Red Dot Firearm Sights Recalled Due to Button Battery Ingestion Hazard

SIG SAUER recalled about 230,000 ROMEO5 red dot sights because the included button cell battery can be easily accessed and lacks required child-resistant packaging, posing a serious ingestion hazard to children.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: This recall qualifies as High (Score 3) because the recalled product poses a serious risk of harm—ingested button cell batteries can cause internal chemical burns and death—but no injuries have been reported. The violation of Reese's Law and federal child-resistant packaging requirements increases the risk assessment.

Plain-English summary

These ROMEO5 red dot firearm sights contain a CR2032 button cell battery that is not stored in child-resistant packaging and can be easily accessed, violating Reese's Law and federal safety regulations. The products lack required warning labels.

When button cell batteries are ingested, they can cause serious internal injuries, chemical burns, and potentially fatal outcomes. No injuries have been reported to date.
