Oliva Cigars Recalls Slim Lighters Missing Child-Safety Feature
About 60,000 promotional cigar slim lighters branded Nub, Serie V, Cain, and Oliva lack child-resistant mechanisms and pose fire and burn hazards to young children under age 5.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The lighters pose a risk of harm (fire and burn injuries) to young children due to the missing child-safety feature, meeting the rubric criterion for High severity. No illnesses or injuries have been reported, keeping the score at 3 rather than 4.
Plain-English summary
Oliva Cigars Co. Inc. is recalling approximately 60,000 Nub, Serie V, Cain, and Oliva branded promotional cigar slim lighters manufactured by Wenzhou LingShuo Smoking Accessories Co. Ltd. of China. The lighters were distributed as free promotional items from January 2024 through July 2024 in stores nationwide (including Best Buy, Target, NEXT TRADING SAS, C2 Wireless, and K Spider Inc. locations) and online through Amazon.com, eBay.com, AliExpress.com, and Walmart.com, priced between $40 and $60 when sold separately.
The recalled lighters do not have child-resistant mechanisms and were not tested to meet federal regulatory requirements for child resistance. Young children under 5 years of age could ignite the lighters, creating fire and burn hazards. No injuries have been reported.
Consumers should immediately stop using and dispose of the recalled promotional cigar lighters. Because these were given away for free, no refund or replacement will be provided. For more information, consumers can contact Oliva Cigars by email at [email protected] or visit https://olivacigar.com/lighter-recall or https://olivacigar.com/ and click "Recall" at the top of the page.
