Homedics Therapist Select Percussion Massagers Recalled for Fire and Burn Hazards

Homedics is recalling about 46,000 Therapist Select Percussion Personal Massagers (model HHP-715) because they can overheat while charging, creating fire and burn risks. The company has received 17 overheating reports, including one burn injury.

Homedics is recalling about 46,000 Therapist Select Percussion Personal Massagers with model number HHP-715 sold between September 2020 and November 2023. The massagers can overheat while charging, posing fire and burn hazards.

The recall affects black handheld massagers with four interchangeable massage heads and a 120 VAC, 60 Hz power cord. Only units manufactured through the end of 2022 are included in the recall. Manufacturing date can be verified by a 4-digit date code (WWYY format, where WW is the week and YY is the year) on a sticker on the underside of the product barrel. Only products with YY codes of 20, 21, or 22 are subject to this recall.

Homedics has received 17 reports of massagers overheating, including one report of a burn to a consumer's thumb. The affected massagers were sold at major retailers including Macy's, BJ's Wholesale Club, Lowe's, JCPenney, The Home Depot, and online through Homedics.com, Macys.com, BJs.com, Lowes.com, HomeDepot.com, and Amazon.com, for approximately $100 each.

Consumers should immediately stop using or charging the recalled massagers. Homedics is offering a full refund or a refund in the form of store credit toward any Homedics product, including a 20% bonus.
