Plain-English summary
Brookstone Company Inc. is recalling approximately 35,500 units of the Foldable Massaging Bed Rest with Heat. The recalled product is beige, features foldable armrests with a cup holder and massage controls, and includes a headrest with a reading light. It provides heat at a single setting and was imported by Brookstone Company. The bed rest was sold at Brookstone retail and outlet stores, the Brookstone website, catalogs, Amazon.com, and borderfree.com from April 2004 through January 2006 for about $125.
The recall is issued because the electrical circuits within the bed rest can overheat. This overheating can cause the back side of the product to overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard. Brookstone has received two reports of overheating, melting, and charring, which resulted in minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.
