Room & Board Griffin Duo Bunk Beds Recall Due to Collapse Risk

Room & Board is recalling about 500 Griffin Duo Bunk Beds sold from May 2013 through May 2017 because some units lack properly installed set screws in the side rail brackets, creating a risk of collapse and fall injuries. Two collapse incidents have been reported with no injuries.

Room & Board Inc. is recalling approximately 500 Griffin Duo Bunk Beds made of cherry wood or maple wood. The bunk beds were sold exclusively at Room & Board stores nationwide and online at www.roomandboard.com from May 2013 through May 2017, priced between $2,000 and $2,200.

Some units were not properly assembled at the time of delivery, with set screws missing from some or all of the eight side rail brackets. Brackets that lack set screws can create a risk of bed collapse and fall and injury hazards.

Two incidents of bunk bed collapse have been reported. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bunk beds and inspect all eight brackets to determine whether set screws are installed. If any brackets are missing set screws, installation is required before the bed is used again. Room & Board is contacting all purchasers directly and will provide free set screw repair kits upon request. For consumers unable to perform the repair themselves, Room & Board will send a representative to their home to inspect and install set screws at no charge.
