When sunlight passes through the acrylic surfaces of the bird bath onto nearby wooden surfaces such as siding or decking, the wood can overheat and pose a fire hazard.

The company has received two reports of the recalled bird baths causing overheating, smoking, fire, and scorching to homes' decking and siding. No injuries have been reported. Approximately 500 units were affected. The bird baths were sold nationwide and online at major retailers including Home Depot, Lowe's, Amazon, Walmart, Target, Wayfair, and Houzz, as well as at bird and pet supply stores, garden and nursery stores, and hardware stores from January 2010 through May 2022 for between $34 and $43.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bird baths and contact Backyard Nature Products to return them for a full refund. The company will provide pre-paid shipping labels either by email or mail.
