Scholastic Inc. is recalling the Shake Look Touch book, a plush touch-and-feel book designed for young children. The recalled books measure 5.9 x 1.7 x 8.4 inches and have pink and green pom poms attached with a string. Only books with the pom poms are included in this recall.

The pom poms can detach from the book, posing a choking hazard to young children. Scholastic has received two reports of pom poms detaching, but no injuries have been reported.

Approximately 185,700 recalled books were sold nationwide and online through bookstores, specialty stores, big box stores, and other retailers including Barnes & Noble, HomeGoods, and Books-A-Million from January 2020 through April 2022 for approximately $13. About 1,500 additional units were sold in Canada.

Consumers should immediately take the book away from young children and cut off the pom poms. Consumers can participate in the recall by registering online at www.recallrtr.com/slt, submitting a picture of the book and removed pom poms, and confirming that the pom poms will be disposed of in the trash. Consumers will receive a $10 gift card upon completion. The book can continue to be used after the pom poms are removed and disposed of.
