American Landmaster Utility Vehicles Recalled for Steering Shaft Separation
American Landmaster has recalled about 1,050 utility vehicles (EV, L3, L4, L5, L5W, and L7 models) because the steering shaft can separate from its joint, causing loss of control and crash hazards. Seven steering shaft separations have been reported with no injuries yet.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The hazard is a structural defect (steering shaft separation) that directly creates a risk of serious injury through loss of control and crashes. Although no injuries have been reported, the hazard is not theoretical—seven separation incidents have already occurred. Per the rubric, a risk-of-harm product with structural defect potential and no reported illness yet falls at High (3).
