Goal Zero LLC is recalling approximately 7,850 EC8 power cables, specifically the 12-foot EC8 Extension Cable (model 98201) and Male EC8 to Ring Cable (model 98202). These cables are used in vehicle integrations to connect Yeti power stations to vehicle batteries or Yeti Tanks. The recall is due to a fire hazard caused by pins inside the connector that can deform and overheat.

Goal Zero has received four reports of the cables connected to vehicle batteries overheating, melting, or catching fire. Some of these incidents resulted in property damage, but no injuries have been reported. The affected cables were sold at Bass Pro, REI, and Sportsman's Warehouse stores nationwide, as well as online at Amazon, Backcountry, and GoalZero.com, from March 2019 through December 2020 for between $25 and $50.
