REVIVE Essential Oils Recalled for Non-Child-Resistant Packaging and Poisoning Risk

REVIVE is recalling specific essential oils and blends because the packaging is not child-resistant, posing a risk of poisoning if swallowed by young children.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (poisoning from methyl salicylate) where injury has not yet been reported, which aligns with the 'High' severity criteria in the rubric.

Plain-English summary

REVIVE Essential Oils LLC is recalling approximately 26,630 units of REVIVE Wintergreen and Birch Essential Oils and REVIVE Sore No More, Ache Away, and Breeze Essential Oil Blends. The recalled products are 10 mL amber glass bottles with black caps. The recall is due to the packaging failing to meet the child-resistant requirements of the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA). Because the products contain methyl salicylate, the non-child-resistant packaging poses a risk of poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children.

The products were sold exclusively online at REVIVE-EO.com from August 2018 through May 2020 for between $8 and $32. No injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall. Specific lot numbers for the affected products are listed in the official recall notice.

Consumers should immediately store the products in a safe location out of reach of children. To obtain a free child-resistant replacement cap, consumers should contact REVIVE toll-free at 800-413-0360 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, email [email protected] with “Free Replacement Cap” in the subject line, or visit www.revive-eo.com and click on “Recall - Important Safety Information.”
