Plain-English summary
Cycling Sports Group Inc. is recalling Front Racks with Bamboo Trays for Cannondale Treadwell bicycles. The recall involves approximately 1,975 units sold in the United States and about 114 units sold in Canada. The racks feature a black metal frame and a bamboo tray marked with "ISO11243:2016 YUENI MAX 10KG". These racks were sold as original equipment on some bicycles or as separate add-on equipment at authorized Cannondale dealers nationwide between April 2019 and June 2020. Prices ranged from $950 to $2,750 for bicycles sold with the racks, and $100 for racks sold separately.
The recalled front racks can detach and cause the bicycle's front wheel to abruptly stop, posing a fall hazard. Cycling Sports Group has received reports of two incidents where the tray detached and contacted the bicycle wheel. One incident resulted in a fall involving minor cuts and bruises, while the other involved bruising and a concussion.
Consumers should immediately stop riding the bicycle until the front rack is removed. They should contact their local authorized Cannondale dealer or Cycling Sports Group to arrange for a free repair. Consumers can reach Cycling Sports Group at 800-245-3872 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, by email to [email protected], or via the "Recalls and Notices" section at www.cannondale.com.
