These twin-sized, two-tone gray mattresses, which can be configured as a small sofa or chair, fail to meet the mandatory federal flammability standard for mattresses, creating a fire hazard. The mattresses were manufactured by Relux Mattress Co. Ltd. of China and sold at DownEast store locations nationwide and donated to various facilities from November 2017 through December 2019 for about $110. Affected units have "Downeast Home & Clothing, Item # 5540033515 and Made in China" printed on a white tag located on the underside of the head panel.

No injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mattresses and contact DownEast to receive a free fitted liner that covers the mattress and brings it into compliance with the federal standard.
