Easy-Rest Inc. is recalling approximately 3,800 units of the "Classic" model mattresses, specifically the Classic 5 Foam Core in twin (model CL533) and full size (model CL546). These mattresses feature a red, zippered fabric cover over a five-inch foam core. The recall is necessary because the mattresses fail to meet the mandatory federal open flame standard for mattresses, which creates a fire hazard for consumers.

The affected mattresses were sold at mattress and furniture stores in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Ohio, Oregon, Utah, and Washington between September 2011 and September 2012. The price range was between $100 and $200. Some mattresses were also sold with a foundation. Consumers can identify the recalled products by checking for "Classic 5," the model number, and the date of manufacture on the federal label, and the lot number on the state label. Both tags should have "Easy-Rest Inc." printed on them.

No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall. Consumers should immediately contact the retailer or Easy-Rest to receive a free zippered mattress liner. This liner is designed to be placed over the foam core and under the existing mattress cover to mitigate the flammability risk.
