An additional 4,700 units were sold in Canada. The products were sold at Guitar Center, Sweetwater Sound, Musicians Friend, Sam Ash, and other retailers, including online at Amazon.com, from March 2016 through December 2019.

The recall is due to a defect in the lithium-ion battery, which can overheat and cause the battery cover to separate forcefully from the transmitter. This poses fire and injury hazards. Yamaha is aware of four incidents worldwide where the battery cover separated forcefully, including one report of minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.
