Plain-English summary
DeWALT Industrial Tool Company is recalling approximately 122,000 DWD110 and DWD112 3/8-inch variable speed reversing drills in the United States, with an additional 8,000 units sold in Canada. The recall is due to a shock hazard where the drill's wiring can come into contact with internal moving parts. The affected drills are yellow with black accents and have a power cable connected at one end.
Only drills with date codes ranging from 2017-37-FY through 2018-22-FY are affected. The model number is located on a label on the right side of the drill, while the date code is etched into the body below the label. If a drill is marked with an "X" after the date code, it has already been inspected and is not part of the recall. Consumers who cannot locate the date code should contact the company for assistance.
The drills were sold at The Home Depot, Lowe's, other hardware stores nationwide, and online at Amazon.com and other retailers from September 2017 through November 2018 for between $60 and $70. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled drills and contact DeWALT to schedule a free inspection and repair. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.
