The word "KELCH" is stamped into the bottom of the cap.

The hazard exists because the replacement caps lack the necessary ventilation holes within the clear lens covering the fuel gauge. This design flaw allows pressure to build up in the fuel tank, posing a fire hazard. No injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall.

The affected caps were sold at Briggs & Stratton dealers and retailers nationwide from February 2017 through February 2018 for approximately $26. Consumers should immediately stop using the portable generators and return the recalled fuel tank replacement cap to a Briggs & Stratton dealer for a free replacement.
