These units were manufactured by Carrier México, S.A. de C.V. and sold nationwide through Carrier distributors between March 2014 and September 2017 for between $25,000 and $93,000.
The recall is due to a fire hazard where the HVAC's humidifier fan can fail to shut off when a connected smoke detector is tripped. Carrier has received one report of a fan not shutting off during installation testing, but no injuries have been reported.
Purchasers should immediately contact their Carrier dealer for a free repair, which consists of the replacement and installation of the electronic control board.
