Boosted Inc. is recalling 2nd Generation Boosted Dual+ electric skateboards. The recall involves approximately 3,200 units sold in the United States and about 100 units sold in Canada. The skateboards were sold online at boostedboards.com from September 2016 through November 2016 for about $1,500. The recalled products are identified by serial numbers starting with S2634 through S2644 located on a white sticker on the bottom of the board, and the battery packs are marked with model number B2SR and "Boosted Lithium."
The lithium ion battery packs attached to the bottom of the boards can overheat and smoke, posing a fire hazard. Boosted has received two reports of the battery packs overheating and smoking. No injuries have been reported.
