What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Plain-English summary
Valspar is recalling approximately 10,300 units of Cabot-branded wood cleaner and wood brightener products. The recall is due to a faulty cap seal that can cause the containers to leak their contents, posing a chemical hazard to consumers. The products are sold in one-gallon white bottles with a handle and are about 9 inches tall.
The wood cleaners were sold at Menards in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin in August 2016 for about $10. The wood brighteners were sold at Blain Supply, Do It Best, L&M Fleet Supply, Menards, and Orgill in California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, North Dakota, and South Dakota from August 2016 through September 2016 for about $15. The specific products included in the recall have badge alphanumeric identifiers printed on the back of the bottle, such as 67MAX20006 for wood cleaner and 67MAX20203 for wood brightener.
Inhaling, ingesting, or having skin contact with the leaked product can cause burning and other injuries. No injuries have been reported. Consumers should stop using the recalled products, keep them away from children, and immediately contact Valspar for disposal and refund instructions. Consumers can reach Cabot Stains toll-free at 877-755-3336 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET or online at www.cabotstain.com.
