What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Plain-English summary

WakaWaka North America is recalling approximately 700 electrical adapter kits sold in the United States and 200 units sold in Canada. The kits, which allow consumers to charge electrical equipment using AC current, were sold online at www.waka-waka.com from November 2013 to April 2015 for about $9. The components are black and include an adapter, U.S.-style and European-style plugs, a USB cable, and ten different types of connectors.

The recall is being issued because the adapter kits can overheat, posing a risk of fire. Additionally, the plastic shell of the adapter can open, exposing consumers to a risk of electrical shock. WakaWaka has received four reports of adapters overheating, including one report of an adapter smoking and one report of an adapter exploding. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled adapter kits and contact WakaWaka for a full refund. WakaWaka is contacting consumers directly.
