Kohler Power Systems is recalling approximately 7,000 portable generators sold in the United States and about 230 units sold in Canada. The affected models are the PRO3.7, PRO3.7E, PRO5.2, PRO5.2E, and GEN5.0 with Spec Number PA-GEN50-3003. These generators feature black frame assemblies and blue fuel tanks. The PRO3.7, PRO5.2, and GEN5.0 models have manual recoil start, while the PRO3.7E and PRO5.2E models have both manual recoil and electric start.

The recall is due to a wiring error that can result in an electrical shock risk if an electrical device is plugged into the generator. Only units with serial number 4528733735 or lower and a manufacture date prior to 06 2016 are included in this recall. Model numbers, serial numbers, spec numbers, and manufacturing date codes are located on a silver label on the lower black frame assembly of each generator.

These generators were sold by authorized Kohler distributors and dealers from June 2014 through May 2016 for between $740 and $1,400. The generators were manufactured by Sumec Machinery & Electric Co. Ltd. of China. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.
