The recall involves nylon hammocks measuring about 12 feet by 6.5 feet, sold in blue or orange with an attached nylon stuff sack and metal rings on the ends. The BYA logo is printed on the front of the stuff sack, and the words "DOUBLE HAMMOCK" appear on the front of the merchandising card. The recalled hammocks have UPC bar codes 7456112010186 (orange) and 7456112010193 (blue) printed on the back of the merchandising card.
The recall is being issued because a weld on the metal ring of the hammocks can fail. This failure allows the hammock to pull free and fall while in use, posing a fall hazard to the user. The firm has received two reports of ring failure, including one report of bruising from a fall.
The recalled hammocks were sold at Gander Mountain stores nationwide and online at amazon.com, dicksportinggoods.com, promotive.com, and target.com from January 2015 through March 2016 for between $60 and $75. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled hammocks and contact BYA Sports at 303-443-0163 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MT Monday through Friday, or online at www.BYAsports.com and click on the Recall Information tab, for a free replacement hammock.
