What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a significant fire and explosion hazard with reported incidents of fuel spills, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating due to significant injury/property-damage potential, despite no injuries being reported.

Plain-English summary

Franklin Fueling Systems Inc. is recalling approximately 9,000 gas station hose and swivel fitting sets used to dispense or transfer refined fuels such as gasoline, diesel, and ethanol blends. The recall involves sets with metal swivel fittings attached to ¾-inch or 1-inch FLEX-ING brand Hardwall, Marina, and Softwall hoses. The specific units affected have date codes stamped on the swivel fitting nut ranging from M1615 to M3515 for ¾-inch hoses and M2215 to M4115 for 1-inch hoses.

The swivel fitting can separate from the hose, causing fuel to leak and posing a fire and explosion hazard. Franklin Fueling Systems has received reports of three incidents where the fitting separated and caused a fuel spill, but no injuries have been reported.

These products were sold through distributors, contractors, and gasoline stations nationwide from April 2015 through October 2015. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled sets and contact Franklin Fueling Systems at 800-984-6266 or online to receive a full refund or a replacement set.
