Plain-English summary
Varaluz LLC is recalling approximately 80 Longfellow model 3- and 4-light lighting fixtures for indoor and outdoor use. The black metal fixtures feature clear or frosted glass shades and can be mounted on walls or ceilings. The affected model numbers are 731KL04EB, 731KM03EB, 731P03EB, 331P03BL, 731P04EB, and 331P04BL, which are printed on the label located on the canopy of ceiling-mounted fixtures or the backplate of wall-mounted fixtures.
The recall is due to a fire and shock hazard. Improper wiring in the fixtures can allow the insulation to melt and cause the fixtures to short out. The company has received two reports of light bulbs shorting, but no injuries have been reported.
These fixtures were sold at lighting showrooms nationwide and online through lighting and home improvement websites from April 2013 to September 2015 for between $320 and $420. Consumers should immediately discontinue use of the fixtures until replacement units are available. To obtain a replacement light fixture or a refund, consumers should contact Varaluz at 702-792-6900 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or online at www.varaluz.com by clicking on the recall news article at the bottom of the homepage. Consumers can also email the firm at [email protected].
