They were manufactured by Dongguan Young Long Electric Co. Ltd. in China and sold from September 2008 through September 2009 for about $32. The recall is due to a defect where the socket wire insulation can degrade, causing charged wires to become exposed. This can allow electricity to pass to the metal canopy of the fixture, posing a fire and electric shock hazard to consumers. The company has received two reports of defective fixtures that caused the home's Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) to trip. No injuries have been reported to the firm.
