Plain-English summary
Exmark Manufacturing Co. Inc. is recalling approximately 500 units of the 2015 Exmark Quest Riding Mower. The recall was initiated because the fuel filters on these mowers can become brittle and fractured, which allows fuel to leak and creates a fire hazard. The firm reported one incident of fuel leaking, but no injuries have been reported.
The recalled mowers are red, black, and gray, with "Exmark" printed on the sides and in front of the operator seat, and "Quest" printed on the front. The model number is QTS452CEM34200, and serial numbers range from 315606482 to 315628458. These mowers were sold at hardware, lawn, and garden stores nationwide from November 2014 through October 2015 for approximately $3,700. An additional six units were sold in Canada.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mowers and contact an Exmark dealer to schedule a free repair. Consumers with registered mowers will receive a letter and a fuel filter. Those who are uncomfortable with the replacement procedure may contact an Exmark Dealer for assistance.
