Exmark Recalls Quest ZRT Riding Mowers Due to Steering Failure

Exmark Manufacturing Co. Inc. is recalling 2009 and 2010 model year Quest ZRT mid-mount riding mowers. The recall involves approximately 5,300 units in the United States and 40 in Canada. The affected mowers are red and gray, with 'Exmark' printed on the side and 'Quest' on the front. Model and serial numbers are located on a metal plate behind the seat on the left-hand side.

The steering assembly on these mowers can fail, causing riders to lose steering control. This defect poses a crash hazard. There have been nine incidents involving these mowers, including one back injury.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mowers and contact an Exmark dealer for a free repair. The mowers were sold at hardware, lawn and garden, and rental equipment stores nationwide from April 2009 through October 2010 for between $4,600 and $6,000.
