Plain-English summary
Belle Investment Corporation, of Irvine, Calif., is recalling two styles of Richie House boys' hooded jackets. The recalled items include a striped red and purple jacket (model RH1045C) and polyester and cotton padded jackets in brown, dark green, and red (models RH1332-B and RH1332-C). The striped jacket features a drawstring in the hood, while the padded jackets have a white drawstring at the bottom. Approximately 40 units were sold online at www.Zulily.com and www.Richiehouse.com from April 2015 through October 2015 for about $20.
The jackets pose an entrapment hazard to children because the drawstrings can become entangled or caught on playground slides, hand rails, school bus doors, or other moving objects. This creates a significant strangulation and/or entanglement risk. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has reported no injuries associated with this recall.
Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the hood and the bottom of the recalled jackets to eliminate the hazard. To receive a full refund, consumers should contact Richie House toll-free at 844-742-1303 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or online at www.richiehouse.com by clicking on "Recall Safety Information," or by emailing [email protected].
