KidKraft Farm to Table Play Kitchen Recalled for Strangulation Hazard and Death

KidKraft Farm to Table play kitchens sold online from 2018–July 2025 are recalled due to strangulation hazard from hooks. A 23-month-old child died in 2023 after clothing became caught on a hook.

KidKraft Farm to Table Model Play Kitchen (model number 53411) is a children's pretend-play kitchen designed for ages 3 and older. The black and light gray kitchen with wood-like countertops measures approximately 44 inches long, 13¾ inches wide, and 43 inches tall. About 192,000 units were sold online at KidKraft.com, Amazon.com, and Walmart.com from 2018 through July 2025, priced between $120 and $270.

The kitchen has plastic or metal hooks designed to hold toy kitchen accessories such as play pots and pans. If young children climb on the counter or crawl through the opening at the back of the kitchen, their clothing can become caught on these hooks, posing a strangulation hazard.

In February 2023 in Oregon, a 23-month-old child was asphyxiated after his shirt became caught on one of the hooks while climbing and crawling through the back opening. The child was unable to free himself and died from strangulation and asphyxia.

Consumers should immediately stop using the play kitchens and remove the original hooks. Backyard Kids, LLC (the distributor) will provide free replacement hooks to all consumers with affected units.
