What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (choking/aspiration) where injury has not yet been reported, which aligns with the High severity criteria.

Plain-English summary

Ignite USA LLC is recalling approximately 130,000 units of Bueno by Contigo Kids Straw Tumblers. The recall involves eight different styles of plastic drinking tumblers sold with a lid and a straw. Some straws feature plastic mold accessories in the shape of fangs, lips, a mustache, or a zipper. The tumblers are branded "Bueno by Contigo" on the packaging and "Bueno" on the lid, with the number "036201" engraved on the bottom. Specific model numbers included in the recall are 71591/71844, 71592/71842, 71593/71841, 71594/71843, 71596, 71597, 71602, and 71603. Tumblers with the letter "B" engraved on the underside of the lid are not included.

The hazard exists because if a child chews on the drinking straw, small pieces can break off into the child's mouth, posing a risk of ingestion or aspiration. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

The tumblers were sold at Meijer and Target retail stores nationwide from May 2015 through September 2015 for about $6. Consumers should immediately take the recalled tumblers from children and contact Ignite USA LLC toll-free at 888-434-0415 or online at buenorecall.gocontigo.com to register for a full refund.
