Stokke Recalls Trailz Strollers Due to Handle Breakage and Fall Hazard

Stokke is recalling about 400 Trailz strollers sold in late 2014 because the handle can break, posing a fall hazard to infants. No injuries have been reported.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (fall hazard) where injury has not yet been reported, which aligns with the High severity criteria in the rubric.

Plain-English summary

Stokke LLC is recalling approximately 400 Trailz strollers with the chassis and seat sold between November 2014 and December 2014. The strollers were sold in black, black mélange, beige mélange, deep blue, red, and purple. The four-wheeled adjustable chassis is silver aluminum and measures approximately 45 inches high by 32 inches long when fully extended. The strollers feature adjustable angle handlebars, a storage bin above the wheelbase, and a seat with an adjustable cover. The Stokke logo is printed on the front of the seat, and the "Trailz" model name is printed on a tracking label affixed to the front of the wheelbase assembly.

The recall is due to a fall hazard: the stroller handle can break while in use, which could cause the infant to fall. There has been one report of a broken handle in the United States and eight reports of handles breaking in other countries. No injuries have been reported.

The strollers were sold at specialty baby boutiques nationwide and online at AlbeeBaby.com, buybuyBABY.com, Diapers.com, Nordstrom.com, and Stokke.com for about $1,300. Consumers should immediately stop using the stroller and contact Stokke to schedule a repair. Stokke LLC can be reached toll-free at (877) 978-6553 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or online at www.stokke.com by clicking on "Important Safety Announcement."
