Stokke Recalls Xplory Strollers Due to Front Wheel Detachment Risk

Stokke is recalling approximately 2,000 Xplory® baby strollers due to a defect where a bolt attaching the front wheels can loosen. This failure can cause one of the front wheels to fall off, creating a fall hazard for young children. The recall includes strollers with gray handles and serial numbers 1 through 27,295 and 27,698 through 28,097, located under the foot plate. Strollers with white handles are not included in this recall.

The company has received 14 reports in the United States of front wheels falling off, including one incident where a child received a scratch after toppling out of the stroller. Additionally, there were 244 reports of wheel detachment outside of the United States. The affected strollers were sold by Stokke distributors, its website, and juvenile product retailers nationwide from September 2003 through December 2006 for approximately $770.

Consumers should stop using the recalled strollers immediately and contact Stokke to arrange for a free replacement of the front wheels. Stokke is contacting known purchasers via email or regular mail.
