Big Lots Recalls Hanging Chairs Due to Fall Hazard

Big Lots Stores Inc. is recalling about 16,000 egg-shaped hanging chairs sold in Big Lots stores from December 2014 through January 2015. The chairs are made from brown plastic wicker pattern mesh with red seat cushions and hang from a chain connected to a black metal pole and U-shaped base. They were sold for about $300 including the base.

The hanging chairs can tip over when they face sideways and swing beyond the base, posing a fall hazard. Big Lots has received eight reports of the chairs falling in stores with consumers in them, including five reports of minor injuries.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled hanging chairs and return the chair bases only to a Big Lots store for a full refund of the entire purchase price of the chair and base. Consumers can keep the chairs.
