Keurig Green Mountain Inc. is recalling Keurig® MINI Plus Brewing Systems with model number K10 (previously identified as model number B31). The recall involves approximately 6.6 million units sold in the U.S. and 564,000 units in Canada. These single-serve hot beverage brewers were sold in 13 different colors with silver trim between December 2009 and December 2014 for about $100. Affected units can be identified by a serial number starting with "31" printed on a white sticker on the bottom of the brewer.
The recall is being issued because water can overheat during the brewing process, spray out, and burn consumers. Keurig has received about 200 reports of hot liquid escaping from the brewer, including 90 reports of burn-related injuries. No deaths have been reported.
Consumers should stop using the recalled brewers immediately and contact Keurig Green Mountain toll-free at (844) 255-7886 for a free repair. While waiting for the repair, consumers can contact Keurig for steps to avoid burn injuries. The units were sold at Kmart, Kohl's, Target, Walmart, and other retailers nationwide, as well as online at www.keurig.com, www.greenmountaincoffee.com, and www.keurig.ca.
