The backrest has a mesh pocket on the back side, and the seat bottom is secured by a strap with a yellow buckle that runs through D rings on the upper part of the backrest. The seats were sold in black, green, maroon, navy blue, red, and royal blue. When open, the seats measure 16 inches wide by 12 inches deep by 17.5 inches high.

The hazard exists because the backrest can fail, posing a risk of injury. GCI Outdoor has received a report of one incident where the backrest support failed, causing a consumer to fall to the ground from the top of a 4-foot tall bleacher and suffer neck and back injuries. The recalled seats have specific purchase order (PO) numbers listed on a small white tag under the product information label sewn onto the back of the chair inside the pocket.

The seats were sold at sporting goods retailers nationwide, including Academy Sports + Outdoors, Big 5 Sporting Goods, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Sports Authority, as well as online at GCIoutdoor.com and other online retailers from January 2013 to August 2014 for about $25. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled stadium chairs and contact GCI Outdoor at (800) 956-7328 or online at www.gcioutdoor.com for a free strap repair kit that includes installation instructions, an additional safety strap, and a new warning sticker.
