WilliamsRDM, Inc. is recalling approximately 103,000 StoveTop FireStop Microhood fire suppressors. These devices are flame-activated, dry chemical powder units designed to mount over residential cooktop stoves, underneath microwave ovens. The recalled models are 677-1 (black) and 677-2 (white), with "Replace Before" dates ranging from June 2014 to August 2019. The units are approximately 14 inches long, 4 inches wide, and 3 inches high.
The recall was issued because the Microhood front canister can fall from the unit, causing the device to fail to suppress a fire. The company has not reported any injuries or illnesses associated with this defect.
The affected units were sold by HD Supply, Wilmar Industries, Louisville Fire & Safety, and other contractor supply companies from June 2009 to August 2014 for approximately $80.
