Plain-English summary

Therapedic of New England is recalling approximately 3,700 twin- and full-size Comfort Deluxe and Comfort Supreme style mattresses. The recalled units were manufactured in 2013 by TEP Bedding Group Inc. under contract for Therapedic of New England. These mattresses fail to meet the mandatory federal open flame standard for mattresses, which creates a fire hazard for consumers.

The affected mattresses were sold at BJ's Wholesale Clubs in Ohio and western New York from January 2013 through November 2013. The twin-size mattresses were sold for about $100, and the full-size mattresses were sold for about $230. The "Therapedic" brand and style name are printed on a label on the left side of the top of the mattress, while the date of manufacture and manufacturer information are printed on a white label hanging on the side.

No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall. Therapedic of New England is mailing free mattress covers to consumers who purchased the recalled units. Consumers should immediately place the covers over the mattress to bring it into compliance with the federal flammability standard. Those who have not received the covers should contact Therapedic of New England at (800) 698-2934 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or by email at [email protected].
