Wood Castle Furniture is recalling approximately 1,000 Riley Duo model bunk beds (model numbers C 5702, E 5702, or M 5702) due to an entrapment hazard. The openings between the guardrails on the top bunk can exceed 3 ½ inches in width, which does not meet safety standards. This gap presents a risk that a child could become trapped, resulting in serious injury or asphyxiation.

The affected solid wood bunk beds feature a twin-size mattress frame on top and a full-size mattress frame on the bottom. They were sold in cherry, eastern maple, or Pacific coast maple finishes. A warning label on the end rail of the top bunk displays the model number "5702" and "Duo Bunk." The beds were sold at Dania Furniture and Room and Board Furniture stores nationwide and online at Roomandboard.com from January 2008 through December 2011 for between $1,500 and $1,700.

No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall. Consumers should immediately contact Wood Castle Furniture for a free repair to address the guardrail spacing. Those with young children should discontinue use of the bunk bed until the hazard has been remedied.
