What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (fall hazard) where injury has not yet been reported, which aligns with the 'High' severity criteria in the rubric.

Plain-English summary

JP Boden Services Inc. is recalling about 900 boys' and girls' sandals with cork soles. The recall involves Continental sizes 24 through 37 (children's USA sizes 8 through 5). The boys' sandals are brown leather with large buckles and a camouflage print on the inside sole, while the girls' sandals are blue, green, or pink suede with a suede ruffle. "Mini Boden" and the sandal size are printed on the inside sole of the shoe.

The cork sole can detach from the sandal, which can cause a child to trip and fall. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

The sandals were sold nationwide through the Boden catalog and online at www.bodenusa.com from January 2013 through June 2013 for between $44 and $48. Consumers should take the sandals away from children immediately and contact JP Boden to receive a postage-paid label to return the shoes for a full refund. JP Boden is also contacting purchasers directly.
