These sandals feature a white upper sole, a cork-covered outer sole, and a white decorative plastic flower attached to the front strap. The "Gymboree" name is printed in aqua on the sole.
The recall was issued because the plastic flower attached to the sandals can pull or snap off, creating a choking hazard for young children. Gymboree has received four reports of the flower coming off; in one instance, a child pulled the flower off, placed it in her mouth, and started to choke, while another child reportedly bit a flower off the sandal.
The sandals were sold in Gymboree stores and on the company's website nationwide from May 2005 through July 2005 for between $22 and $28. Consumers should immediately stop using the sandals and return them to a Gymboree store or via mail for a refund.
