Plain-English summary
Staples the Office Superstore LLC is recalling Bermond Fabric Manager's Chairs due to a fall hazard. The base of the chair can break, which can cause the chair to collapse. The chairs have unpadded arms, a five-wheel base, and come in gray or burgundy. A tag on the bottom of the seat cushion identifies the product with specific SKU and item numbers: gray SKU 924204 (item 21084) and burgundy SKU 924203 (item 21083).
Staples has received 41 reports of the chairs' base breaking. Three of these reports involved consumers falling out of the chairs. One consumer reported a scratched leg and a bump to the back of the head as a result of the fall. The chairs were sold at Staples.com, online via Staples' in-store kiosks, Staples Advantage, Quill.com, and Medical Arts Press between July 2011 and May 2013 for approximately $50 to $100. About 3,350 units were distributed.
Consumers should immediately stop using the chairs and contact Staples for instructions on returning them for a full refund. Staples is contacting all known customers directly to provide this information. Consumers can also contact Staples toll-free at (888) 577-9824 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the Warranty and Recall Info page on staples.com or the Recall Information page on quill.com.
