The recall was initiated because the outer end cap glued to the top of the egg can come off. This creates a small part that poses a choking or aspiration hazard. West Music has received three reports of the ends popping off, but no injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled egg shakers away from young children. They should contact West Music at (800) 397-9378 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or via email at [email protected], to obtain a free replacement product. The instruments were sold at West Music stores, West Music Catalog, Westmusic.com, Amazon.com, and at West Music booths at summer workshops from July 2012 through October 2012 for about $1.50 each.
