Kawasaki Motors Corp. USA is recalling approximately 210,000 FH, FR, FS, and FX series lawn mower engines. These engines are used in riding and wide-area, walk-behind lawnmowers sold under various brand names, including Ariens, Bad Boy Mowers, Bob-Cat, Cub Cadet, Husqvarna, and Toro. The recalled units are 13 to 36 horsepower, air-cooled, v-twin engines.
The recall is being issued because the fuel filter on these engines can leak, which poses a fire hazard. Kawasaki Motors has received 110 reports of fuel leaks, but no injuries have been reported. The engines were sold between October 2011 and August 2012 for between $2,000 and $10,000 through authorized Kawasaki small engine dealers and lawn and garden equipment retailers nationwide.
Consumers should immediately stop using mowers equipped with the recalled engines and fuel filters. They should contact Kawasaki or a Kawasaki dealer to arrange a free repair.
